03 PROJECTS · 2023—2026

Three real projects — a product I designed and shipped for a startup client, a graphics engine built from scratch, and a user-research study. Hover an entry to preview it.

"Good design is the one you
don't remember fighting."

I'm Juan F. Gutierrez — a Product & Interaction Designer focused on intuitive, accessible experiences that solve real problems.

I like working across the whole process — from research and information architecture to wireframing, prototyping, and building the real thing. So far that's meant shipping a product for a startup client, running a user-research study, and building a graphics engine from scratch.

My path into design began in game development, where I fell for understanding user behavior and crafting interactive experiences. Because I can also code, I bridge design and engineering — and build things that are both thoughtful and technically real.

Process

04 PHASES · NON-LINEAR

I work in loops, not waterfalls. The four phases below repeat at every scale — from a single component to a whole product.

01 Listen

Interviews, usability tests, support logs, analytics. I want to know what users actually do, not what they say they do.

02 Frame

Reframe the problem in one sentence the team can argue about. If we can't argue about it, the problem isn't sharp enough yet.

03 Prototype

Lo-fi to start. Paper, Figma, clickable flows — whatever gets to a testable thing fastest. Fidelity earns its way in.

04 Ship

Build it, measure it, write down what surprised us. Hand off with documentation that respects the people who maintain it.
